Operations Department headed by HOD (Ops) is the line department of DCI and is responsible for undertaking the dredging operations to fulfill the contractual obligations of DCI. All other departments extend support services to Operations Department in meeting the above responsibilities. Operations department is responsible for monitoring and control of various projects undertaken. Operations Department exercise control over all the Project Offices as well as all the Vessels. Project Offices are headed by Project-in-charge (PIC) and Vessels are headed by Masters. Masters of all DCI vessels, report to PICs who in turn report to HOD (Ops).
The Technical Department of DCIL functions as a nucleus of engineers to ensure that the DCI Dredgers/Crafts are optimally maintained for undertaking the dredging operations to fulfill the contractual obligations of DCIL. The Department liaisons with statutory bodies in order to perform in accordance with all the applicable National/International rules and regulations. The Department also guides Masters and CEOs for maximizing the availability and efficiency of all machineries and equipments on board the dredger. It forms the backbone of the dredging services that are being provided by DCIL.

To provide and maintain right I.T and I.T enabled service to the entire Fleet and Offices of Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL)
While the marketing functions of the Corporation were being attended to by the Contract Cell of Operations Department in 1999, a separate Marketing Department has been set up to provide more focus on the marketing functions keeping in view the Government policy to open the dredging market to International Dredging Companies. The basic objectives of Marketing Department is to focus more on the business opportunities available in domestic and international markets so as to ensure gainful deployment of dredgers and to expand its market base outside India so as to take a proper mix of the market.
As per the ‘International Safety Management (ISM) Code’, the ‘International Maritime Organization (IMO)’, made provisions for setting up of a dedicated ISM cell to oversee the implementation and operation of Safety Management System (SMS) thereby ensuring safe operation of ships and pollution prevention. The implementation of the code came into force on 1st July 2002. Accordingly, ISM cell was formed and SMS implemented on all vessels. DCI was issued with Document of Compliance (DOC) for ISM Code by DG Shipping, Govt. of India. Subsequently, the ‘International Ship and Port facility Security (ISPS) Code’, was amended for ensuring adequate maritime security measures on ships came into force on 1st July 2004. ISM cell was made the custodian for the implementation of ISPS Code and all vessels complied with ISPS Code and obtained International Ship Security Certificate.
